Persona is Raquel Vogl and Claire Williams, a duo of guitar and voice, based in Sheffield, UK.
Before relocating to Sheffield, Raquel was a dedicated participant of the long standing experimental punk music communities of New York and Washington DC.
“Old Man, Young Woman” is a song of Raquel’s experience of growing up as a young woman and musician in a predominantly male music world, an alternative scene where a patriarchical structure is still dominant in spite of being a haven for both women and creative freedom.
We recorded this track in the attic of our house during the pandemic. It originally appeared on an EP we did with Sonido Polifonico.
Raquel is interested in exploring the merger of the poetry and music and using the guitar in untraditional and percussive ways; she has an affinity for anyone, but especially other women, making weird music these days.

Can't listen w/o hearing Young Marble Giants, but a more nervous, taut take. All the tracks are great, but can't stop humming the title to myself. Josh Steichmann
